Her doomsday-like words decrying Trump’s Putin praise during her exceedingly brief news conference Thursday was about as dark a tone we’ve heard from either candidate in this election so far.

Hillary Clinton attempted Saturday to walk back her remark that half of Donald Trump’s supporters are sexist, racist and homophobic and “irredeemable”, saying she regretted saying “half”.

Reporters burst into laughter in response to the look of disbelief on Clinton’s face.

Trump also injected drama into the national security debate this week by wholeheartedly endorsing Russian President Vladimir Putin as a strong leader who has fared better than U.S. President Barack Obama.

“Can I say I was surprised?” she asked.

“This constitutes a direct threat to the United States, and we can not and will never accept this”, Clinton said.

Trump is calling Clinton’s comments a “grotesque attack” and questioning how she can be president when “she has such contempt and disdain for so many great Americans”.

Trump said our military is embarrassing.

Never mind that such a proposal would be a war crime, since we would be stealing the resources of a sovereign country in what would surely unite the whole nation – Sunni and Shia alike – against the United States.

“Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well”, she said, shortly before introducing singer Barbra Streisand.

It might not be intentional, but there appears to be an arms race between the campaigns of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton to see who can gather more endorsements from military officials.

Mr Trump, in a speech on Friday, stuck to his belief that the USA and Russian Federation can work together to defeat Islamic State (IS) militants.

“It’s just one more massive failure from a failed secretary of state”, Mr Trump said.

“He is opposed to democracy, opposed to freedom, and opposed to our interests”, McMullin said of the Russian leader.

He would not commit to who he’s voting for in November, but said that he once had tremendous respect for Hillary Clinton when she was Secretary of State.

In his interview, Trump said he wants to win the election for the evangelicals.

But they didn’t want Trump to close the door on Putin’s face.

“I have an open invitation to anyone in the Clinton campaign to go face-to-face with me”, he noted, “and answer questions about foreign policy, answer questions about taxes, answer questions about things the American people care about”.
