Half the country would be embarrassed if Donald Trump were president
Clinton and Cruz tie at 44.

“I couldn’t believe that they did it”, Trump said. Marco Rubio earns 12 percent support and Ben Carson takes 10 percent.
As Cruz climbs, polls show Republican Establishment candidates lagging.
The experiment confirmed that “voters are about six points more likely to support Trump when they’re taking the poll online then when they’re talking to a live interviewer”, said Morning Consult’s polling director, Kyle Dropp.
In New Hampshire, Trump leads Cruz 24-16 percent. No other candidate received more than 7 percent (Bush). Overall, just 24% of voters view Bush favorably, according to Public Policy Polling, while 53% see him in an unfavorable light.
Mr. Bush also had the worst net split among Republicans, with 37 percent reporting a favorable opinion and 52 percent reporting an unfavorable opinion.
And no-one in 40 years has ever become the Republican candidate for president without winning either Iowa or New Hampshire.
Indeed, since that time it appears that the opposite has occurred. He has been warmly received but also has encountered some skepticism – he was questioned at a meeting with Iowa pastors last month about his campaign’s reliance on money from NY financier Paul Singer, a major GOP donor who supports same-sex marriage, among other causes.
Trump came back to Bush several times during a meandering speech that lasted more than an hour, rejecting out of hand any possible Bush endorsement (“It doesn’t mean anything”) and opining on the former Florida governor’s capabilities (“Close to incompetent”).
“The race is immaterial”.
At the bottom, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and Sen.
Rubio continued, explaining to another voter how important retailing campaigning was in the early states in order for a campaign to gain momentum and continue on into the spring.
“I would say it’s the record of accomplishment – my record in Florida compared to his”, Bush said.
But privately, some prominent Republicans who had expressed support for Bush have cast doubt on his comeback chances.
A series of new polls released over the weekend offered the first glimpse of the post-CNN debate landscape of the Republican presidential primary race.
The poll shows Clinton maintaining a significant lead over rival Bernie Sanders for her party’s nomination, with 61% of Democrats supporting her and 30% backing Sanders.

Despite his impressive grassroots fundraising hauls and the massive crowds that attend his rallies, it’s still no surprise that Clinton has touted her chances in a general election. The other leading Republican candidates do about the same against Clinton: (Clinton 44% Rubio 43%, Clinton 44% Cruz 44%), but both Cruz and Rubio do much better than Trump against Sanders: (Rubio 45% Sanders 42%, Cruz 44% Sanders 43%).
