The Vikings fan and a security guard who tried to break up the fight were both injured, but are expected to be OK. When officers arrived, everyone involved had left. Arias faces an additional charge of misdemeanor battery on the security guard.

If convicted, the Contra Costa reports that Martinez and Chavira could face up to 7 years in prison.

Juan Arias, 33 years old and a resident of Hollister, was arrested… Martinez was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, while Arias and Chavira will be arraigned in November. Four people were arrested on suspicion of felony assault after the incident, the Associated Press reported Friday.

Prosecutors said in a statement that the incident began with “a round of dueling sports banter”, and that “the victim was tackled and then assaulted by the suspects”.

“This is not a case revolving around football rivalry, it is a case of senseless and criminal violence”, prosecutor Carolyn Malinsky said.

The Santa Clara Police Department averages about 30 arrests when the 49ers play at Levi’s.

The 35-year-old man’s injuries weren’t serious.

The beat-down of a fan after the 49ers game last Monday has Santa Clara City Council members expressing serious concerns about safety at the billion-dollar Levi’s Stadium – with two even suggesting that the city consider halting alcohol sales at halftime.

O’Neill said that while no decisions will be made Tuesday, staff will be directed to investigate options if the council wants to pursue the discussion further for possible action.

While the 49ers did not give a comment to the Chronicle on this latest development, Santa Clara Police Chief Michael Sellers told Matier & Ross that the second-half booze ban suggestion wouldn’t make much of an impact.
