The Hall’s Selection Committee, at its annual meeting on February 4 in Houston, will consider 18 finalists, including one Senior (Easley), two Contributors (to be named Tuesday), and 15 Modern-Era finalists (to be determined from a preliminary list announced in mid-September).

Easley and former Bears tackle Jimbo Covert are the only first-team offensive and defensive selections to that team who are not in the Hall.

Former Seahawks safety Kenny Easley is a senior finalist for the Pro Football of Fame, it was announced on Monday. Under bylaws of the HOF, a minimum of four people have to be inducted each year, with a maximum of eight.

Easley, 57, was the No. 4 pick in the 1981 draft and played seven seasons, all in Seattle.

Easley’s nomination comes 29 years after his career ended in 1987. Seahawks blogger Bob Kaupang recently used the best traits of the current Legion of Boom stars to describe the five-time Pro Bowler.

Kenny Easley will be on the ballot for the Hall of Fame Class of 2017. He was the AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1981, AFC Defensive Player of the Year in 1983 and NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1984.

The seniors committee is made up of nine members of the overall selection committee. It’s created to nominate a player whose career ended at least 25 years ago. Easley must receive the same 80 percent voting support that is required of all finalists.
