Halloween Party at Golisano Children’s Hospital

Spirit of Children’s focus is making hospitals just a little less scary for patients like 13-year-old Hope Maldonado who has come to the facility for the last two years as she battles a bone cancer. They also brought costumes for the kids to wear and had arts and crafts.

A couple dozen kids got to make masks, decorate pumpkins, play reporter for the day, and hang out with their families and friends.

Ray Smith with Spirit of Children said they have a month long party every year for children at the hospital.

“We have good days and bad days, this is a good one…and so, those are the ones I want to remember”, said Kinder. This Halloween, the program will host 86 Halloween events nationwide. Dave Mendelsohn owns and operates the local spirit Halloween stores, and he said that 100 percent of the donations collected in the stores go to this effort.
