Al-Bozom said the national security forces, who are guarding the borders area between southern Gaza Strip and Egypt, doesn’t allow any measure that damages or hurts the security and stability of the borderline area with Egypt. Around 2,100 Palestinians are believed to have been killed during the operation, in addition to 66 Israeli soldiers and seven Israeli civilians.

Palestinian Hamas militants take part in a parade to mark the 11th anniversary of the Israeli assassination of Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin in Gaza city, on March 22, 2015. Aside from sporadic rocket-firing by small jihadist organisations not under Hamas control, and retaliatory air strikes by Israel, there has been a wary ceasefire.

Speaking at an event in Beersheba, Steinitz said that Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi had destroyed numerous tunnels built by Hamas, including last October, on Israel’s behalf.

Ya’alon, who last week asserted that no Gazan attack tunnel have so far reached Israeli territory, blasted Herzog for accusing the government of inaction on the rebuilding by Palestinian terrorists of infiltration tunnels – the likes of which the IDF destroyed in 2014’s Operation Protective Edge.

Hamas’ paramilitary wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, on Sunday announced that it executed one of its senior commanders over “moral and behavioral violations” without going into details of what the violations were. “That’s why they are now using their best forces to complete the tunnels quickly”.

The Egyptian Army said Friday that it killed ten militants in Sinai, injured 13, and arrested six as part of raids in the area, according to a statement from the military spokesperson.

“The rockets fired from the Gaza Strip into Israeli towns affect Israel, but the Iron Dome reduced their impact”.
