‘Hamilton’ Is Planning a National Tour

As The New York Times raved: “A show about young rebels grabbing and shaping the future of an unformed country, “Hamilton” is making its own resonant history by changing the language of musicals”. The original show will remain on Broadway indefinitely.

In December, lead producer Jeffrey Seller announced that Hamilton would begin performances in Chicago – its first engagement outside NY – on September 27, 2016, for an open-ended gig at the newly renamed PrivateBank Theatre, which is operated by the Nederlander arm Broadway in Chicago. The tour will kick off in San Francisco in March 2017, running at the city’s SHN Orpheum Theater for 21 weeks.

The Grammy nominated musical tells the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton through contemporary genres of music such as hip-hop, jaz, blues, rap, and R&B.

The Lin-Manuel Miranda production quickly made itself known to the general public as the play to see, sold-out nights and widespread demand catapulting it to success. Single ticket sales will be announced at a later date. “We make these decisions based on the size of the market and the power of the market to sell tickets for long periods of time”, he said. After that, the show plans to tour other cities as well.

The casting of this tour is likely to get a lot more attention that other national tours as well, with the show breaking Broadway records and earning more national buzz than probably any other show since Rent.
