‘Hamilton’ Parody Tackles Tom Brady Suspension, Patriots’ Deflategate Scandal

The Cardinals made it to the NFC championship game last season, but Garoppolo threw for 264 yards and a touchdown to lead the Patriots to a 23-21 victory on Sunday night.

“With Tom Brady sitting out the first game of a four-week suspension and All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski out with a hamstring injury, Jimmy Garoppolo did just enough to help the Patriots to a stunning road win at Arizona”, Newsday’s Bob Glauber said. I don’t think that’s the way to play them, so being able to keep the chains [moving], keep the down and distances on second and third-down better, or even on second-down if we didn’t have a good first-down play to be able to get to third-down and manageable range.

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said after the game that his team needs to get back to the basics and come better prepared to the next game. “We played a good complimentary game”.

The defense as a whole though was excellent and looks like a unit capable of helping Brady (eventually) and Garoppolo (right now) win games all year.

Larry Fitzgerald caught a pair of touchdown passes, David Johnson had one of the best weeks of any National Football League running back and Carson Palmer threw for 271 yards and didn’t turn the ball over.

Winston started off slowly as the offense had just 39 yards through the first quarter, including an interception. Earl Watford filled in and had a costly holding penalty on Arizona’s last possession, which ended with the field goal miss.

Garoppolo dropped back and initially couldn’t find an open receiver.

Head coach Bruce Arians, who a year ago led the Cardinals to their first postseason victory since 2009, was also blunt about his team’s performance on national television (via Boston.com). We didn’t need to get hyped. Two of those hits, as well as one of the sacks, came from former Patriot Chandler Jones.

“He played well the entire game”, Hogan, who caught three passes for 60 yards and a score, told USA TODAY Sports in the locker room after the game. I suspect he has plenty to say about managing an organization, understanding human nature, and providing leadership. Andre Ellington is bad at it. Fans can only hope for touchbacks so the team can at least start at the 25-yard line.

“Not when you’re playing a back-up quarterback and they’re missing some playmakers and it’s a game at home”, he said.

Third down woes, on offense and defense, plagued the team, as did missed tackles and, on one big play, blown coverage by a rookie. “It was great to see the Patriots finish off the night with a huge win in Arizona”. I wish we could have put it through for our teammates. “When we got the short fields, we got touchdowns”.

During the off-season the Patriots have been preparing for life without Brady, and getting Garopollo prepared to carry the Patriots.

“Nothing insane. Once you get into it, after the first play or so, it’s just football”.
