Hamm, Henson, ‘Mozart In The Jungle’ Lead Globes TV Honors
The victory sparked many viewers of the 73rd Golden Globe Awards on NBC to ask, “What the hell is “Mozart in the Jungle”?” And we’re talking about the television categories, where only two awards went to network-affiliated shows.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association honors actors and creators of the best work in television and film annually at the Golden Globe Awards. Based on a 2005 memoir by oboist Blair Tindall, the show is about the behind-the-scenes antics of the fictional New York Symphony.
Adapted from Hilary Mantel’s fictionalized accounts of King Henry VIII’s court, Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, PBS’ period miniseries boasted some of the best acting talents on screen, including famed British theater actor, Mark Rylance, who rarely appears on television.
Perhaps the most surprised victor was Lady Gaga, who was named Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel ( edging nominees like Queen Latifah and Felicity Huffman ).
“Mr. Robot”, in which Rami Malek plays a psychologically troubled NY security engineer-turned-hacker, won the Globe for best television drama series.
-Supporting Actor: Sylvester Stallone, “Creed“.
-Picture, Musical or Comedy: “The Martian”.
The best supporting actress in a series, limited-series, or TV movie was won by Maura Tierney for “The Affair”.
Over on the movie side, the best supporting actress prize went to Kate Winslet for “Steve Jobs”, Danny Boyle’s portrait of the late Apple co-founder.
-Original Score: Ennio Morricone, “The Hateful Eight”.

What’s most surprising to me about Mozart in the Jungles’ wins is that it’s not a low-rated, but provocative show like Mr. Robot or a low-rated, but edgy musical comedy like My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Despite the tough competition, ‘Mozart’ won for Best Musical or Comedy Series. Or when Taraji P. Henson topped everyone in the Best Actress in a TV Drama Series for her role as Cookie Lyon in “Empire”.
