Hammers bid to pick Cherries leaves manager Howe fuming

Eddie Howe has hit out at West Ham for making a double bid for Callum Wilson and Matt Ritchie on the eve of their 3-1 defeat at Manchester United.

Howe says the bid was swifly rejected and isn’t best pleased with West Ham’s actions.

“We had a bid yesterday [Monday] evening”, he told reports, according to Sky Sports.

But after playing in all but one of Bournemouth’s 38 Premier League matches on their way to finishing in 16th place last season, Howe has no intention of allowing eight-times capped Ritchie to depart.

Both players impressed on the South Coast in the Cherries’ first season in the Premier League, though striker Wilson has been injured for swathes of the campaign. I don’t understand that.

“Our biggest challenge is going to be keeping the players we have”.

“We don’t need to sell”, he added.

Boss Eddie Howe has admitted it was hard for Bournemouth to get up for the rearranged match against Manchester United on Tuesday. “It was a hard night for both teams after Sunday, but credit to both teams I thought they gave it their all”. “They dominated possession, we struggled to get a stranglehold on the game”, BBC Sport quotes him as saying. “I think that is the clear message from us”, he said. We want to improve our squad.

“He has been a fundamental part of the team’s success this season, and we look forward to sharing many more successful years together”. There’s lots for us to ponder over the summer. Our training pitches and main pitch have gone.

Tottenham Hotspur have identified Callum Wilson as an ideal backup for Harry Kane next season
