Hamstrung Durant to miss at least a week

Oklahoma City forward Kevin Durant was ruled out for the second half of the Thunder’s game against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night with a left hamstring strain. Durant is set to miss at least the next 7-10 after an MRI revealed he has a strained left hamstring, according to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Through eight games this season, Durant has averaged 28.1 points (fourth in the NBA), 7.3 rebounds and three assists per-game for the Thunder, who boast a 5-3 win-loss record. “We don’t defend. Guys drive by us at will”. He was limited to 27 games last season because of three surgeries on his right foot. The 2014 National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player still managed a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds while helping the Thunder take control early.

“We knew we had to come out and play the right way and not be relaxed”, Westbrook said of the Thunder’s determination to keep the pressure on in the second half.

“We just talk about he didn’t pass me the Gatorade on the bench and I was mad at him”, Gortat said.

The way he said “unfortunate” was nearly sarcastic, like he sort of sees a few comedy in how ridiculous it is to be hurt again after everything he went through last season. “We’ve given into being exhausted too much”, Beal said. Rather than be honored, Durant finds it a bit disrespectful, particularly for the players on the Wizards roster, Yahoo Sports reported.

Wittman ended his postgame press conference by responding to a question about rookie Kelly Oubre, who set career highs in minutes and points while playing mostly when the game was already decided.

If we want to put that game in a pot and boil it-the famed “what it boils down to” Wittman phrase-then we would be graced with witnessing this remnant of a lineup (in the first quarter!): Ramon Sessions, Garrett Temple, Kelly Oubre, Drew Gooden, and DeJuan Blair. This team doesn’t deserve to hear its fans cheering for a player on the opposing team. “They were? I don’t care”.

Durant came down awkwardly after drawing a foul and immediately grabbed at his left leg. As for who replaces him, it could be Kyle Singler, who filled in to start the second half against the Wizards, but it probably will be Dion Waiters, who was actually supposed to.

The night started inauspiciously enough as starting shooting guard Bradley Beal and backup center Nene were ruled out for the evening with minor injuries.
