Han Solo origin film will include a young Lando Calrissian

Therefore we couldn’t have a Han Solo spin-off without bringing Lando Calrissian into the mix. And as one of the few main characters of color in the Star Wars universe when the original trilogy first premiered, Lando Calrissian has as dedicated a fan base as the guy he lost the Millennium Falcon to. Of course, in that film, Lando turned the tables on both his old pal, Han Solo, and the Empire, in a classic double-double cross…classic Lando.

The “Han Solo” movie is reportedly casting a young version of Lando Calrissian – the fan-favorite pilot and Baron administrator of Cloud City – to star opposite Alden Ehrenreich’s youthful Han Solo. But still, this casting news would only make sense, considering that Han and Lando were friends during this time period. It’s unclear how big of a role Lando will play in the story of this new Han Solo adventure, but it’ll be interesting to see what revelations may come to light about the duo’s relationship.

Han Solo perfectly describes Lando as a “card player, gambler, and scoundrel”, and that’s about all we need to know. The casting for the role has yet to be announced.

Aside from appearing in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Lando Calrissian has also made appearances in the Star Wars animated series, Star Wars Rebels, on Disney XD. But alas, age has gotten the best of him, and he’s no longer the young scoundrel he was.
