The woman, who asked not to be identified, said she was in a auto with her sister and boyfriend when she witnessed the escape at the intersection of Silver Spring and Hopkins in Milwaukee.
Police say a man in his early 20s was shot from an apartment window while walking on the street in the 7800 block of W. Fond du Lac Avenue near Custer, shortly after 1:30 a.m.
“I seen like, the door bounce”, the woman told the reporter.
“I noticed an arm was holding it open”, the witness added.
‘The look of his face when he jumped out was kind of a shock – like what do I do now?
“That’s insane because I thought you couldn’t get out of the inside of a police vehicle”, said the woman, who did not want to be identified. She said by the time the van hit the emergency lights and turned around, the prisoner was long gone.
