Tillman allowed one run in his first appearance since August 20 because of right shoulder bursitis. He was checked by the trainer and stayed in. The visitors would tack on another run in the seventh to win 11-8, and go two games ahead of Toronto and Baltimore in the A.L. East standings. LHP Wade Miley (8-12, 5.49 ERA) starts for the Orioles.

Clay Buchholz hadn’t allowed a run in his previous 11 innings against the Blue Jays and was 11-3 with a 2.18 ERA in 16 games in Toronto. Liriano last started August 26 against Minnesota and has made two relief appearances since. We listened on the radio to the rest of the game in the vehicle: the Blue Jays quickly were ousted in the bottom half of the frame.
