Happy Bhag Jayegi UK Review !!

Nevertheless, it is a pretty damn good film.

This is Musaddir Azis’s second film after Dulha Mil Gaya which starred SRK in a guest appearance but sunk deeply due to delay in the making and clichéd writing and predictable drama.

Loo Break: Sometime in the second half! This week sees the release of a “happy” go lucky film in the form of HAPPY BHAG JAYEGI.

The movie has all the elements to entertain the audiences such as romance, comedy, freedom, love, songs and to top it, it has the craziness peppered into it which no B-town film has showcased in a while. The Movie features Diana Penty, Abhay Deol, Ali Fazal, Jimmy Shergill, and Momal Sheikh in the lead roles. Presiding over this crucial conference is Javed Ahmed (Jawed Sheikh), the ex-governor of Pakistan, who wants his dearest son Bilal Ahmed (Abhay Deol) to enter politics just like him and “change the history of Pakistan”.

But on her wedding day, the feisty Happy leaves Bagga stranded at the mandap, by jumping on to a truck, which is supposed to take her to Guddu. Will Guddu finally win over Happy’s love?

Happy Bhag Jayegi works totally because of its actors.

All through film, the dialogue writer unsurprisingly pokes fun at Pakistan but the jibes are never overtly spiteful. It also reminds some situations and the well-written characters of Rai’s films. And some are too familiar: Fazal has a thankless part and never lifts off the screen; Shergill has some amusing lines but he is essentially doing a repeat of his Tanu Weds Manu part. One of the most likable points about this is, the representation of the life beyond the border which is quite similar to us. The urdu conversations between Bilal and Afridi are unbelievable. Thus the rating of 3.0 is better in many ways.

Predictability runs all through the plot.

In his third film, Aditya Chopra’s Mohabbatein (2000), he played the more mature of three friends, Karan (the other two were played by Uday Chopra and Jugal Hansraj), who, inspired by their enigmatic professor Raj Aryan (Shah Rukh Khan in one of his hammier and therefore more popular turns), falls in love with a woman (Preeti Jhangiani) whose army-enlisted husband may or may not have lost his life in service. Performances: Diana Penty as Happy is nothing like the docile Meera from “Cocktail”.

So that’s what the critics had to say about ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’.

Diana Penty and her lively acting! She does not come off as convincing enough but I’d still laud her efforts to take that up. Abhay Deol is seen doing an impressive role while playing the character of Bilal Ahmed as he looks so suave and his act is really cool.

The film works totally because of its actors.

Ali Fazal plays the lover boy Guddu.

Jimmy Shergill once again does not get the girl in the film. Piyush Mishra was at his usual best. His comic timing is spot on. Instead, it was pleasantly surprising to see Momal Sheikh deliver an understated performance. She does an average job and fails to stand out in an already talented cast. Director Mudassar Aziz explores the anatomy of commitment and honesty in a relationship without squandering away the spirit of satire that streams across this endearing rom-com. His latest outing although, promises that the director seems to have got some talent. The Filming began on 17th September 2015 in Amritsar. After hitting two sixes, he causally mentions being from Pakistan and the kid bowling, immediately gets him bold saying “Pehle bataya hota Pakistan se ho”. Also his climax, though a riot, does not have the zing of a mad-caper. It does not blend well with the film’s story. The rest of cast too puts up a good show.

Happy Bhag Jayegi is a breezy entertainer that has its moments. This the kind of film one enjoys as a Tv-watch at best. I’m going with a 2.5/5 for this!
