Happy returns: Goran Dragic officially signs his 5-year contract to stay with
Phoenix Suns high-flying guard/forward Gerald Green has reached an agreement on a one-year deal with the Miami Heat, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports. Should Wade get banged up or be forced to miss a few games due to injury, Green could very easily get placed in the starting rotation. He seems poised for a similar role in 2015-16. Green was drafted as a 19-year-old out of high school and has never spent more than two seasons with a team at this point in his career. He played in 74 games with Phoenix last season, but averaged almost nine less minutes per game than in 2013-14, resulting in a slight dip in his scoring (11.9 PPG) and rebounding (2.5 RPG) numbers. He shot 43.3 percent from the field, 38.0 percent from three-point range, and 84.0 percent from the free throw line. Green will be a huge help to the Heat off the bench as he could be the second unit’s big time scorer.

“Standing at 6’8”, Green is also capable of playing at the small forward position and what characterizes his game most is the athleticism and highlight-reel dunks. On a team that is already pretty good, Green adds yet another weapon to the fold.
The team did not release the terms of the contract, but it’s been reported at 5-years, $85 million. From there, nothing would be the same for them, the Heat franchise or the National Basteball Association at large.

The Suns have a glut of wings that allowed them to let Green leave in free agency. No delays in the offseason, the Heat front office is getting down to business. He is returning to Miami today to be re-evaluated by Heat oral surgeon Dr. Larry Brown.
