Harbaugh comments on quarterback competition: “Seeing solid play”
Jim Harbaugh didn’t have a problem when it came to talking about MI football during his first camp availability session Monday night at Bo Schembechler Hall. And the headliner was, perhaps, true freshman lineman Michael Onwenu.

Michigan’s youngest group of players is making a strong first impression at fall camp. “He’s going to school”.
Michigan’s first-year defensive coordinator Don Brown is noted for being one of the most blitz-happy coaches in college football.
“Right now, we’re playing better at that position than we were eight, nine days into camp a year ago”, Harbaugh said Monday night in Schembechler Hall after practice. The coach declined to provide details about why those players were suspended or when they might return to practice.
Harbaugh isn’t ruling out playing several of the freshmen. “He’s awesome. I really like him a lot”.
“Shane Morris is having a good camp”, Harbaugh said.
Naturally, the media asked MI head coach Jim Harbaugh on Monday why these players were absent from the team photo, and Harbaugh said that two of the players are suspended.
Wide receiver Chris Evans was another player Harbaugh praised.
Michigan’s freshman class was ranked as the sixth-best recruiting group in the country by ESPN when they signed in February.
The competition at multiple positions intrigued Harbaugh. (But) I don’t see any of our older guys just giving their jobs away. More than any team I’ve probably been on where a group of new guys are showing they’re on track to be either starters or backup players. I’m not seeing that for one minute.
Harbaugh’s policy on redshirt is basically that he doesn’t have one. “Better than most. Better than most camps that I’ve seen at the start with quarterbacks”. But, I’d recommend not asking Harbaugh for confirmation on that. It will be exciting to watch and some of them will and some of them won’t.
