Harman: Customer Fiat Chrysler’s hacking risk isolated case

A Harman Kardon spokesman told SCMagazine.com that the company has informed its other original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of its findings.

“We do not believe this problem exists in any other vehicle outside of Fiat Chrysler“, Harman Chief Executive Dinesh Paliwal said in an interview with Reuters on Tuesday.

But Paliwal said the radio system that was hacked, with an 8.4-inch touch screen, was developed about five years ago and doesn’t have as many security safeguards as current models.
