Jonathan Papelbon had a problem with something Bryce Harper did on Sunday afternoon.
Papelbon (4-3), who entered in the eighth, went back to the mound for the ninth in what was a 4-all game.
Harper was also asked about the incident after the game, saying, “He apologized, so whatever”. Desmond tipped his cap to the stands from the dugout, where earlier teammates Jonathan Papelbon and Bryce Harper got into a scuffle.
According to CBS San Francisco, Pellman said he missed on the pole-vault because his assisted living home doesn’t have a pit out back to practice on. #Nats@TheNatsBlogJoe: If changes aren’t made tonight for the #Nats, I really have no idea how I can continue to respect the organization going forward…
“First of all, let me say, I’m in the wrong there”, Papelbon said, via MLB.com . “There’s a lot of competition. It is a grind”. ” ‘Hey look, I’m wrong, you’re right”.
“It’s squashed and it’s good, we’ve moved on”. I don’t play the “I played and you didn’t” card unless I think it is warranted; this is clearly a situation where playing experience matters. Sometimes in this game there’s a lot of testosterone and there’s a lot of intensity that spills over, and I think that happened today. You’ll be shocked to learn that he allowed a go ahead home run to the Phillies and loaded the bases before he was pulled from the game.
Now the Nationals have another year of Papelbon – they picked up the option in his contract to pay him $11M next season in exchange for him agreeing to the trade. On Wednesday he plunked Baltimore star Manny Machado and was given a three-game suspension by Major League Baseball.
“My job is to help us try to win games here, and it’s not my call”, Williams said.
“This is a family issue”.
With the win, the Phillies (59-97) ended the year 26-55 on the road while Washington (79-76) lost at home for the ninth time in 13 games a day after being eliminated from the playoff picture.
HOUSTON – Dallas Keuchel completed an undefeated season at home with seven strong innings and Houston claimed the rubber match of the three-game series with Texas. Papelbon was responsible for five of the runs, two of them earned, and left to a rousing chorus of boos.
Keuchel allowed one run, two hits and two walks while striking out 10, the fifth time this season he reached double digits in strikeouts.

Nicolino pitched a quality start in his last outing, firing six innings of three run ball. Both starting pitchers threw 89 pitches, with 55 strikes.
