Morton struck out six and walked three.

Scoring runs has been a struggle for the Phillies this season.

Cesar Hernandez hit out of the two-hole, and went 1-4. Murphy has at least two hits in six of 11 games and has a nine-game hitting streak. The loss was just the second of the season for the Nationals.

Galvis, who returned to the leadoff spot, followed with a shot that bounced off the wall in front of ex-Phil Jayson Werth in left field.

The Nats would end up tying the game at one in the top of the sixth.

A homer run by Jay Bruce in the eighth allowed the Reds to withstand a two-run homer by Brandon Moss with two outs in the ninth that cut the lead to 9-8. But did this blown save, against his former team, sting more?

Carlos Ruiz homered for the second time this season, equaling his output from all of past year….

Gomez struck out Clint Robinson and Stephen Drew, then got Michael Taylor to swing into a first-pitch groundout.

Scherzer (2-0) allowed one run, striking out seven, and the Nationals built their lead in the National League East division to five games already.

Bourjos was stranded at second after leading off the fifth inning with a single and reaching second on Morton’s sacrifice. Morton retired 17 of the first 18 batters he faced. The Indians added three runs in the sixth, and Harvey was charged with five runs in 5 2-3 innings.

Harper tied two records in the process, hitting a home run for the fourth straight game, a franchise mark, while extending a home run streak to six consecutive games in Philadelphia, joining Ernie Banks as the only two in major-league history to do so. The righthanded reliever has allowed no runs and just two hits in seven appearances…. Last night’s 3-0 deficit after the first wasn’t much better, and Aaron Nola’s night didn’t get much better from there en route to a truly sad Saturday night in Philadelphia sports. Galvis got down in the count 1-2 before taking a 95 miles per hour fastball from Papelbon the opposite way, out of the reach of a very busy Werth for a walk-off double, giving the Phillies a 3-2 victory in front of a relatively packed Citizens Bank Park crowd of over 37,000.

MIAMI – Nick Markakis drove in three runs to lead Atlanta over Miami.

The Detroit Tigers edged the Houston Astros 5-3 and the Texas Rangers scored six times in the seventh to overcome the Baltimore Orioles 8-4.

“He threw great today”, Harper said.

The Braves won their second straight game. The Phillies are 0-4 when the other guys score first.

The Nationals tied it at 1 when Anthony Rendon hit an RBI single to right with two outs in the sixth. With tonight’s first inning, the Nats have scored eight first inning runs over the last two days. The Phillies continue a 10-game homestand on Monday by starting a three-game series with the Mets….

Chicago had allowed only two runs in their last four games, and saw a five-game win streak come to an end. Arrieta tossed eight scoreless innings in the win over the Rockies. I believe (in) who I am as a pitcher, where I’ve gone a good majority of my career of going 200 innings and going deep into games.
