Harry Kane strike sinks Sunderland and keeps Spurs on the rise
Kane was stretched off three minutes before the end of Sunday’s 1-0 Premier League win over Sunderland, in which he scored the victor before leaving White Hart Lane on crutches and wearing a protective boot.

It was a hard fought victory for the League One side, as they took the game against the Premier League opponents to extra time before striker Bradley Dack scored the match victor in the 102 minute to score a famous victory and set up a tie against Spurs.
Kane’s injury was a blemish on an otherwise successful afternoon for Tottenham, whose victory over Sunderland sent them up to third in the Premier League and maintained their unbeaten start.
But now Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is anxiously awaiting the results of assessment of Kane’s right ankle after he was carried off on a stretcher toward the end of Sunday’s game in north London.
“It is hard without him, but we signed Janssen, he’s working very well and he is a striker that can give us a lot of things”.
Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier are unlikely to be risked after they suffered cramp on Sunday while Danny Rose is still recovering from a hamstring problem.
The Spurs manager expects to rotate his squad against the Gills and said teenage prodigy Marcus Edwards could be involved, despite playing 90 minutes for the under-23s on Monday.
Speaking ahead of the game, Pochettino likened him to the Barcelona star and admits he has the potential to develop into a great player. “But I think after what he has been doing, especially against Stoke the other week, and now he is showing that he deserves to play in that team”.
“It was fantastic, our supporters were fantastic, I am happy for the result and for them as we all felt really disappointed after Wednesday’s result”.
Son Heung-min’s man-of-the-match display against Sunderland proves he should now start for Spurs, according to Thierry Henry.

Afterwards Pochettino said: “We fought a lot and tried to score. In front of the goal we need to be more clinical, we need to be more aggressive – but 1-0 was enough to get the three points”. “We need to feel better about ourselves”.
