Harry Kane: Unbeaten run shows Tottenham can compete with Premier League’s best
Despite an interrupted start to the season – with a change of manager just eight games in – the Reds are considered contenders for the top four, mainly because of Chelsea’s atrocious start.

Louis van Gaal’s side have been heavily criticised so far this season but they are just two points short of league leaders Manchester City. This season has seen a major improvement – only Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have conceded fewer goals – and this has, according to Kane, helped to make them “a tough side to beat”. They’ve been playing very well and not conceding a lot of goals and I think our team will always score goals as well – we’ve got a lot of players who create chances and score goals.
This is, of course, a simple and inexact projection… which is a good thing for Chelsea; if the Blues continued to pick up 1.08 points per game LESS than they did last term (surely they will improve, though?), they would end the campaign on a measly 45 points – but at least it would have been enough to finish 13th last season and avoid the drop!
I know a lot of people are going to be surprised with this one, but I’m going with Tottenham.
Spurs earned plenty of praise for their impressive performance against local rivals Arsenal on Sunday afternoon as they held Arsene Wenger’s men to a 1-1 draw at Emirates Stadium.
And former Tottenham midfielder Jenas believes Pochettino must get his side playing like they know they can win the title.
He writes: It’s a head-or-tails one here for me.
“I would have said no up to six weeks ago (about a top four finish), but the last three or four times I’ve watched them they look a very different proposition”. If Chelsea play like they did against Stoke, they’ll win a lot of football matches.
“You’ve got to go out to win football matches and they go out not to lose them”.
