Claudio Bravo’s debut for Manchester City is set to come in the most high-profile match of the English Premier League season: The Manchester derby.

Bravo’s arrival has all but sealed the end of Joe Hart’s Manchester City career after the England number one was dropped and replaced by Willy Caballero for the opening three matches of the season before being selected for Wednesday’s final Champions League qualifying tie against Steaua Bucharest.

Pep Guardiola has made it clear that the England ‘keeper isn’t in his plans, and so has Ronald Koeman. “And with the goalkeeper with more than 100 caps for his national team and a team that can compete with Argentina or Brazil, it’s a really good asset for us”.

The deal, which is expected to have cost the Sky Blues somewhere around €18m, will pave the way for the departure of Joe Hart, who is now expected to the third choice goalkeeper for manager Pep Guardiola.

‘Yes, why not? Our target is to make him a better play and play in games such as this so we will see, ‘ Bergiristain said to the club’s website. He could leave the club he has been with for 10 seasons before the transfer window closes on August 31.

He was also voted Copa America’s best goalkeeper in 2015 and 2016 as well as earning a place in the Team of the Tournament each time.

The 29-year-old has been key to City securing two Premier League titles during his time with the club, showing both brilliant goalkeeping ability and excellent leadership skills.

Asked if he was still on the look-out, the Catalan said: “No chance, it is enough”.

Guardiola hailed the signing of Bravo, but Man City fans will not be seeing him in action this weekend. “We have a top manager that the football club has wanted for a long long time and he’ll have his opinion on things”. The other ones, maybe they will stay, maybe they are going. “I’m so happy with him today”, Guardiola said.
