After looking vulnerable at various junctures in these last two starts, it appears Harvey as the Dark Knight has returned. There was good reason for that, considering he was batting. He has given up 35 hits in those 33 innings.

NEW YORK (AP) – Matt Harvey pitching seven strong innings and hit his first career home run to lead the New York Mets to a 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday. As important, they are now tied with the Giants for second place in the National League West Division, and sit five games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers.

After Eric Campbell worked a two-out walk, Harvey hit the second of the Mets three home runs, sending the first-pitch offering from Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin into the left-centerfield stands.

The New York Mets are now hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citi Field. He said he would give the ball to his father, Ed, who also was his high school coach. Harvey (8-6) grinded through the first five innings before finding a groove after his first big-league homer. He deleted the post, but after all, this is the internet – once it’s out there for just a little bit, it’s game over.

Peralta, in left field, immediately waved to signal for a replay review, as a fan had reached over the railing above the fence to catch the ball.

Collins believes Noah Syndergaard will start the series opener but hasn’t decided on the other two games yet, saying it will likely be a combination of Bartolo Colon and Jon Niese. Manager Terry Collins believes Duda is in line for a huge second half of the season, but as stated by Long, Duda’s slump is due to a lack of confidence at the plate, and if he is poised to be the source of offense the Mets are clamoring for, Duda has to believe he can do it. The Mets bullpen will need to be pitching at its finest to be able to get wins against the quality teams they will face all month. “I’ll probably name my calves Posey and Lagares”, Anderson said.

Arizona took a 2-0 lead after only seven pitches. A.J. He gave up a leadoff single in the seventh to Diamondbacks shortstop Cliff Pennington (1-for-2) but erased him by inducing Pollock to hit into an inning-ending double play.

Harvey is 7-6 with a 3.11 ERA since returning from Tommy John surgery. He had plenty of breathing room thanks to a rare outburst by the Mets, who have scored four runs or fewer in 21 of their last 23 games. “I obviously wasn’t happy about the first two batters. I had to put up zeros”.
