Haryana assembly passes GST Bill
Talking to TOI, CCI president Arun Parwani said, “Traders of Chhattisgarh welcomes the GST Bill but to make it more simplified and convenient for small traders, CCI representatives have deliberated upon certain proposals that if incorporated in the GST Bill would help the small traders in particular. Now the tax shall first come to the state, which in turn, will pass it on to the BMC”. Participating in the discussion in the Assembly, NCP leader and former Maharashtra Finance Minister Jayant Patil said there was an apprehension that the state’s fiscal autonomy would be dented as a result of the GST provisions.

“Return statements submission is basic in the taxation system and for the GST, it has been good and on schedule”, said Khazali. Maximum tax collection in the last three years will be the base.
Sumitra Mahajan, the Lok Sabka Speaker also showed interest about the one tax system and stated that the tax system will benefit in the development of the entire nation and all states collectively. Traders were not convinced to get or reissue of another GST numbers for extending their trade in other states as they believe that GST should maintain the spirit of “one tax one country.’ As the government should allow to operate the business under one GST code in entire country”. The Bill has already been passed in Parliament.

She said the 14th Finance Commission has called for giving greater financial powers to local self-governing bodies. “The Government should set up a committee for consultations on the draft of the proposed state law for State GST (SGST)”.
Cabinet meeting held today gave its nod to ratify the GST Bill in the Legislative Assembly on August 30. “So the BJP should refrain from taking the credit for it”, Vikhe-Patil pointed out. He assured that the GST will not fuel inflation.

The landmark Bill needs approval by at least 15 state legislatures before it could be sent for Presidential assent and subsequent setting up of GST Council which will decide the new tax rate and other issues.
