Has Louis Van Gaal been asked to resign by Man Utd board?
On the possibility of Manchester United sacking him, Van Gaal told the BBC: “That is something I discuss with [executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward not you”.

The United manager then admitted in his post-match press conference that he could quit the club, and Bosnich insists the Dutchman’s body language highlights his current mindset.
“I will speak with him first and then with my staff. I need to have a conversation but I do not need to tell you what I want to say”.
Under-fire Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal made an unprecedented change but the outcome was the same. That is what I have analysed.
Manchester United, which has now lost four games in a row, is scheduled to play Chelsea next on Monday. “I do my utmost to find solutions to cope with the pressure, but at the end my players have to do that by themselves, and I help them”. “It is more hard because I am also part of the four matches we have lost so people are looking at me and I have to deal with that, but more importantly the players have to deal with that because they are the ones who have to perform”.
He put that down to his players’ fear of failure and conceded that United must somehow find the courage to overcome that if they are to arrest their slide.
“I said we have to play football at half-time and you have seen the difference, but that is not enough, you have to start in the first minute”.
Stoke’s opener after 19 minutes summed up a truly terrible first half for United.
And Van Gaal admits the prospect of dramatic improvement is limited with no time to train between the two games.
Manchester United is a club which has not been accustomed to frequent losses in recent seasons, and even David Moyes did not experience form this poor.
A squad containing so many stars should not – in theory – be so mentally fragile, but Van Gaal believes it can happen to the best of players.
United’s winless run now stands at seven matches thanks to their 2-0 defeat to Stoke on St Stephen’s Day.
Van Gaal dropped Wayne Rooney to the bench for the game at the Britannia Stadium.

Mourinho having seen his side win a premier league and league cup double last season failed to inspire his team this season. He doesn’t have much experience managing at the top level, but nor did Pep Guardiola when he took over a very good Barcelona team who’d won the European Cup two years previously.
