Hatred of Hillary the unifying thread at Trump confab

Trump has dodged an array of darts that would have poisoned most other political campaigns, from a rocky relationship with the GOP establishment, to a loud and proud pack of conservatives who are so anti-Trump they’ve popularized the #NeverTrump hashtag on social media, to a near constant stream of articles anticipating Trump’s downfall.

A few minutes after speaking on the first night of the convention, soap opera actor and underwear model Antonio Sabato Jr. told ABC News reporters that he “absolutely believes President Obama is a Muslim”.

Democrats will formally nominate Clinton at their convention next week in Philadelphia. “I have no idea what is going to happen in Cleveland”. “This is surreal”, said Utah Sen.

Annie Karni of Politico noted that Minnesota Senator Al Franken called the “lock her up” chants “very banana republic”.

Such a “bombastic attack” against Clinton sounds like an angry crowd in a South American dictatorship, opined MSNBC host Chris Matthews.

If Trump wins, I hope Christie gets nothing better than the position of national dog catcher.

The convention comes amid a wrenching period of violence and unrest, both in the United States and around the world. The shooting, the fourth high-profile deadly encounter involving police over the past two weeks, added to the tensions across the country between the black community and police.

Clinton may be receiving plenty of flak for the move, but the app seems to pale in comparison to Trump’s comments about immigrants.

Due to speak at the end of a four-day-old convention notable for a lack of policy details, Trump will offer a sampling of the policies he has said he will pursue if elected.

Trump’s spokeswoman said the candidate “does not agree” with what Baldarsaro said.

“Rigorous vetting already takes place while these refugees are still overseas, and it’s a process that historically takes 18 to 24 months”, Clinton said.

“I just want to hear about what Republicans will do, how Republicans will run the government”, said Brady, a former state GOP chairman.

Clinton was a frequent target of the eclectic group of lawmakers, military service members and entertainers headlining opening night of the convention. Although she’s taken criticism for overstating her record of bipartisanship, she was hardly a partisan shill in the Senate. “This whole thing disgusts me, Hillary Clinton should be put in the firing line and shot for treason”. If the millions of #NeverTrump Republicans could bring themselves to make the leap to Clinton, she may even meet them in the middle.

Also taking the stage were actor Scott Baio and Willie Robertson, star of Duck Dynasty, who took the stage with an American flag bandanna wrapped around his head.

You can’t blame Donald Trump for this.

He has mocked a female colleague’s breasts, expressed “disgust” at a gay soldier and proudly told reporters to get their heads “out of your butts” in defense of Trump, the Republican presidential nominee. The Republican Party, by contrast, has become a national embarrassment.

Whether that continues into the general election, of course, remains to be seen. But campaign officials undermined their own effort Monday by picking a fight with Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who is not attending the convention and has yet to endorse Trump.

But Baldasaro’s latest remarks aren’t winning support back home. House Speaker Paul Ryan formally declared Trump and Pence the nominees to brief cheers from a partly empty floor.

They listed positions they termed as women’s issues – from opposing abortion to preventing terrorism – where they said Clinton has failed.
