A disturbing picture of a Syrian boy covered in dust and blood has gone viral online. More than 10 tweets posted every minute on Twitter with the hashtag, according to social media analytics company Zoomph.
“Coming from the global principles of humanitarian law and with intention to extend the scales of humanitarian mission in Aleppo, Russian Defense ministry is ready to support de Mistura’s proposal about weekly 48 hour humanitarian ceasefires to deliver the city’s citizens food, medicine and to restore vital service systems that got broken in rebels’ shellfire”, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told Russian media. The U.N.’s special envoy called off a meeting, Thursday, saying there was “no sense” in holding it in light of the obstacles to delivering aid. The U.N.is hoping to secure a weekly 48-hour pause to the fighting in Aleppo. He confirmed the boy was taken to a hospital known as “M10” Wednesday night and treated for head wounds before being discharged.
Shortly after the strike, rescue workers and journalists began pulling victims from the debris.
“We were passing them from one balcony to the other”, said photojournalist Mahmoud Raslan, who took the iconic photo.
Parallels are being drawn between Daqneesh and Alan Kurdi, the three-year-old whose lifeless body was discovered on the shores of Mediterranean Sea last September.
“There are so many girls and boys like him who are still drowning and dying in rubble”, Hamaoui said.
Neither Daqneesh nor his family sustained major injuries, but the Guardian reported that eight others died from that airstrike, among them five children.
Omran was pulled from the remains of a destroyed block of flats along with his parents and three siblings, aged one, six and 11, according to Raslan. Not long after the boy and his family were rescued, their apartment building collapsed.
“That would require some heavy lifting from not only the two co-chairs (Russia and the United States) but also those who have an influence on those who are fighting on the ground”.
INNOCENCE LOST Children as young as three years old are working.

A man is seen in the video plucking the boy away from a scene of nighttime chaos and carrying him into the ambulance. As the camera studies him, he instinctively wipes his hand across his bloody head, looks at it and silently wipes it on the seat cushion. Doctors at the hospital said that around 12 other children all under the age of 15 were treated. “We are afraid security forces will infiltrate our medical network and target ambulances as they transfer patients from one hospital to another”, Abu al-Ezz said.
