Have Man Utd bid €100m for Thomas Muller?

The stories in Germany on Monday night suggesting United had bid a record breaking €100m to try and sign Muller set a few pulses racing in Munich and Manchester, but United insiders quickly moved to confirm those claims were wide of the mark.

Man United have made no secret of their Muller affection in the past two seasons, with the player having worked under Louis van Gaal when he was manager of the Munich giants.

One thing is for sure – United can afford it. All four players signed so far are covered by the new £75m per year Adidas sponsorship and with the likes of Robin van Persie and Nani off the wage bill, United have plenty of self-earned funds to re-invest wherever necessary.

It is now being reported that the shocking package could be Bayern Munich forward Muller, who has been linked with a move to the English Premier League side all summer.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal had been a long-time admirer of ace German global Thomas Muller.

Van Gaal handed Muller his debut at Bayern, and the German worldwide recently was quoted by ESPNpraising his impact on his career.

Meanwhile, on the pitch, Muller had another excellent term previous year as Bayern won yet another Bundesliga title.

While they are yet to make a bid, the Red Devils remain hopeful that they will be able to strike a deal with the Bavarian giants.
