Have not grabbed any land: Hema Malini
But according to documents procured under the Right to Information (RTI) by activist Anil Galgali, Hema Malini was allotted the plot worth crores of rupees for a paltry Rs.70,000.

A month after the BJP-led government in Maharashtra announced allotment of a prime piece of land here to actress and MP Hema Malini for a dance academy, an RTIactivist had claimed on January 28 that the plot valued in crores is being given to her for a mere Rs 70,000.
However, Malini contradicted these allegations saying that she isn’t even aware of the amount that she has to pay.
The prime plot measuring around 2,000 square metres was allotted to the Natyavihar Kala Kendra Charitable Trust for her proposed dance academy and a cultural hub, besides developing a public garden. “For a Parliamentarian, this kind of benefit is illegitimate”, Chawla said in a statement issued here today.
I have not grabbed the land as it’s been said.
Hema also stressed that the original land bought by her for Rs 10 lakh would be returned to the government after she is handed over the new land. “I will take the land at any cost as it is my dream to build a dance academy”. “The institute belongs to society, and not to me”, she said. I will follow all the rules and regulations of the government. “When I will get the land in my hand, then I will give”, she told reporters. I have struggled for this and it is my right to have it. Twenty years is not a small journey. Why speculate the price when I don’t know myself how much I have to pay?

The actor said she had not yet received the 2,000-square metre plot in Mumbai’s Oshiwara area after pursuing it for two decades. “I don’t know why an issue is made out of it”, she added. “The government has given it to me…not that I have gone and grabbed it”, she said.
