Hawkeyes coach leads Team USA to silver medal win
TORONTO, July 22 Andre De Grasse introduced himself as Canada’s next great sprinting hope on Wednesday, powering his way to Pan American Games 100 metres gold.

“To be medalling in the Pan Am Games is just beyond my expectations”, Chuboda said.
Previously, the women’s team’s best finish was silver at the 1999 Games in Winnipeg.
“I was thinking ‘Oh no, I’d better get it together, ‘” Gleadle said.
Afterward, De Grasse walked through the media mixed zone without stopping and talking to reporters – which isn’t entirely unusual in the early rounds of track races.
De Grasse holds the Canadian record in the 200 metres of 20.03, set in May, and will take aim at the 100 metre record of 9.84 shared by Donovan Bailey and Bruny Surin.
Her victory was swiftly followed by a triumph for compatriot Eli Dershwitz as the world junior champion overcame Joseph Polossifakis of Canada 15-9. I had to take a lot of rest for this to get that benefit. Jucliene De Lima of Brazil won the bronze medal with a throw of 60.42 metres.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete at home in front of relatives and friends”, De Grasse, who will also compete in the 200m and 4x100m relay, told reporters.
Mark Daye, the Deputy Leader of the Ontario Green Party, went one further and tweeted about Kanye – who is expecting his second child with his wife Kim Kardashian West soon – describing him as an “obnoxious no talent a**hole”.
He was first spotted at a high school track meet – literally, a stone’s throw away from the stadium where he won his gold medal – just three years ago.
At the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Murray teamed up with fellow United Kingdom signee Skal Labissiere to lead the World Selects to a two-point win over a US team filled with McDonald’s All-Americans. Brazil is third with 32 gold and 114 overall.
“I was out watching my dad jump all the time”, Shawnacy said of his childhood.
“When I made my move with 500m to go, all those people screaming down the back straight, it’s hard to hear yourself think but it was hard not to think about winning the race at that point”.
“I just had to keep pushing”, he said, “and execute the last part of my race and just manage somehow to get the victory”.
The two celebrated together, Hughes at one point jumping into the crowd.

In the singles competition, 12 games of qualifying will take place Friday before the field is cut to the top eight bowlers in each division for match play. The Victoria, British Columbia native played in all four games, totaling 283 minutes throughout the tournament. “I play with older guys all the time, so that’s not a problem”, he said. USC’s graduated senior BeeJay Lee also reached the finals representing the United States, taking sixth with a time of 10.17. And the basketball team does not have a player as talented as Sinclair, a potentially transformative star who can win a game, on her best night, by herself. Juan Luis Barrios of Mexico won the bronze medal with a time of 28:51.57. Cuba was within three points of Canada here, so there is obviously a chance Canada will not win the event, forcing them to a last-ditch tournament next summer.
