Hentschel will first appear in the crossover episode of Arrow and The Flash this fall before moving on to Legends of Tomorrow, which will debut at mid-season.

Falk Hentschel has been tapped to play Carter Hall, aka Hawkman, on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, EW has learned.

Although the character has been retconned rather confusingly throughout the years in the comics, Hall was the original Hawkman, a reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian prince who harnessed the power of the mysterious “ninth metal” and used it to build large wings with which he could fly. The latter series centers on Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), a time-traveling rogue who has seen a awful future and assembles a ragtag team to stop Vandal Savage, an immortal villain causing trouble throughout time.

One of the most exciting prospects is DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Arrow/Flash spinoff, grabbing characters from both worlds to this one that transcends both time and worlds. Also signed on are Arrow’s Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/the Atom, as well as Renee (Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl) and Franz Drameh (Jay Jackson). Legends of Tomorrow will begin on CW in early 2016. As for Hentschel, you may have seen his movie work in the likes of Transcendence and White House Down, and he also had a recurring role on the short-lived CBS series Reckless. TV with Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter exec producing. He is represented by APA and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum.
