Hayne cleared to chase spot in Fiji sevens squad for Rio Games
Amidst all the off-field talk, Jarryd Hayne has finally hit the training paddock with the Fiji sevens team in London.

“Hayne would be eligible for the London round of the world rugby sevens series subject to all other regulatory and registration matters being met”, World Rugby said.
When Hayne returned from San Francisco in January after making his NFL debut for the 49ers there were a number of rugby league clubs that approached his management to lure him back to the NRL following his successful stint with Parramatta.
Since Hayne announced his move to join Fiji, questions have been raised by Australian Media on why Hayne chose Fiji over Australia.
Hayne, who played eight times with one start for the 49ers as a rookie past year, announced on Sunday he was quitting the NFL.
In his view, Rabele says, that Hayne should be tried out at rover. The 49ers instead were bullish on Hayne, praising his ability to pick up Kelly’s new offence and excited about using his powerful, 188cm body and skills.
Hayne had his first training with the team yesterday.
At the time Friend said, “There’s no doubt Quade is a quality player, but put simply, we just haven’t had the opportunity to work with him as much as we would have liked over the past five months”. “Jack said: “How do you think he [unnamed player] would go in rugby league?’ I said: ‘Jack, you have to understand we don’t value a player’s capacity on whether or not he can play rugby league or not”.
St George Illawarra, Gold Coast and Newcastle have expressed public interest in snaring the former Parramatta fullback.
World Cup-winning coach Dwyer shares a similar view, saying there is no reason to try and lure a player to rugby just because he is a big name.
Hayne sensationally quit the National Football League after being sounded out by the Fiji Sevens team.
Currently, Fiji sits atop the standings with 166 points – 14 clear of South Africa and 21 ahead of New Zealand.
“He connected with the sevens team perhaps in Sydney, I think, [during a World Series round in February] and he’s got that heritage”, Cheika said.
JARRYD Hayne’s intention to play rugby union has been welcomed by Wallabies winger Rob Horne, even though his NSW Waratahs side aren’t interested in the former NRL star.
“The more attention to rugby the better, so it’s great to have someone like that coming into our game”, Horne said.
