Hazardous Materials Released in Houston Warehouse Fire

Fire crews on Thursday were holding back a massive blaze at a gun warehouse in Houston that caused the release of hazardous materials and fireballs to shoot into the sky, officials said.

City officials issued an alert ordering people in nearby homes and businesses to stay inside, close all windows and shut off air conditioning.

The department says no injuries have been reported and firefighters were focused on putting out hot spots after the blaze had been brought under control. Try to seal the door to your shelter room with plastic sheeting and duct tape.

The fire department’s HAZMAT team said it is monitoring the air quality.

“HAZMAT has not made contact with anyone who works or owns this company”. Students are being taken by bus to the done Coleman Community Coliseum located at 1050 Dairy Ashford Road.

The 4-alarm fire at Custom Packaging and Filling in the Spring Branch area on Houston’s west side broke out just before 10 a.m. By 12:30 p.m. most of the flames appeared to be out as firefighters continued to spray down the smoldering rubble. The Harris County Office of Emergency Management Hazardous Material team also responded to the scene.
