The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for several counties in the Garden State through 12 p.m. Friday.

Northern and southern Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Harford, Prince George’s and Charles counties, the District of Columbia and parts of northern Virginia are covered under the advisory.

After Friday’s snow, the weekend’s temperatures are expected to be in the high 40s.

MA officials are asking people to stay off the roads between the morning and evening commutes to allow snow-clearing equipment to do their jobs.

“However, some of the hills in Eastern Connecticut could get an 8 inches snowfall, perhaps even more”, DePrest said.

The National Weather Service predicts that the snow will be more of a sloppy mess of slush with temperatures hanging around the mid-30’s.

The storm is expected to start off as rain Thursday night and turn to snow by early morning.

AccuWeather reports there is a chance that multiple storms next week could sync with colder air that settles into the East to bring snow or a wintry mix to part of the region.

Chicago, for instance, may have its daily average temperature fall 9 degrees below normal on Wednesday, according to MDA Weather Services in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

About 1 to 3 inches are forecast for Long Island, with less than an inch along the Jersey and CT shores, and a dusting expected in the five boroughs.

The snow is very heavy and wet.

Temperatures will be unusually high Thursday afternoon, rising to the mid 50s, Storm Team 4 says.

Thursday: Mostly sunny with highs in the mid- to upper 40s.
