The fantasy drama television series – which recently received 23 Emmy nominations – is set to come to an end but a spin-off has not been ruled out.
Responding to a question from EW, Bloys reportedly said: “Yes, they have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do”.
The seventh season will debut its seven episodes next summer, and with the production delay, the executive confirmed that Thrones will be out of the running for the Emmys next year. So far the show has produced 60 episodes and producers have previously stated that they envision the show running for 75 episodes in total.
HBO officially announced when “Game of Thrones” is ending.
Game Of Thrones turned into a soap so it stays on our TVs forever?
The production of season seven will be delayed, making the premiere date around June of 2017 (when the show normally ends their seasons) as opposed to the normal March-April start date.
Look, if we’re doing spinoffs, we’d rather see a prequel that takes place during the War of the Usurper / Robert’s Rebellion and show us the Battle of the Trident once and for all.
Bloys also admitted that he’s had talks about a potential spinoff or prequel series with Benioff and Weiss, but “there are no concrete plans” for any “Game of Thrones” follow-up yet. “They know we’ll take as many as they want to give us”. Game of Thrones is the longest-running series HBO has ever had, as well as the network’s most watched show. It’s a pretty intense production, they’re about to start production soon.

The final season is expected to be broadcast in 2018. What HBO has effectively done is split the final season into two, so the final 13 episodes are actually split between season 7 and season 8.
