HBO confirms when Game of Thrones will end

The Hollywood Reporter’s Lesley Goldberg writes HBO executives would love Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff to do 10 seasons, but say, “We want to take their lead with what they could do and what the best version of the show is”.

The next question Bloys answered was if he would consider doing a Thrones spin-off series?

There is also speculation that the eighth and final season will consist of only six episodes, whereas past seasons have included 10. Thrones will not pick back up with season seven until next summer.

On a Reddit forum devoted to the show, user Hafas posted: “Now HBO needs to confirm that the last episode of season 8 is about 100 hours long, and I’ll be ok with that”. This comment was widely reported as a confirmation that the show would end by 2018. “We’ll take as many as the (producers) will give us”, he said. But while the news may sound bad for fans of the show, there’s still hope for a potential spin off.

As the end of “GOT” has been confirmed, the “GOT” fans are unstoppable to make theories online. And why would they want to let it go? GoT is easily among the most popular series the network has ever had and it is the reigning Emmy Award victor for Best TV Drama. He said, “Even if you took away Game of Thrones’ Emmy nominations this year, we’d still have more than anybody else”. I’m not sure that the guys could really wrap their heads around it when they’re just about to start production. Season 7 returns next summer and will have seven episodes, and Bloys told EW that the exact number of episodes in Season 8 has not been finalized yet. He also confirmed that the show creators weren’t opposed to it, “but there’s no concrete plan for it at this point”.
