HBO leads Emmy pack
With a total 94 nominations, HBO, for the 16th consecutive year receives highest number of nominations among all other networks.

But perhaps as important as its absolute position, Netflix also saw the biggest percentage jump of any of its major rivals. With its 56 nominations, FX surpassed its previous record of 45 nominations set back in 2014 and comes in as the second-most nominated network this Emmy Season.
The FX crime drama Fargo, loosely based on Joel and Ethan Coen’s motion picture of the same name, was the third-most nominated production, with 18 nominations, including a bid for best limited series and a nod for Kirsten Dunst as best actress in that category. Critical darling Full Frontal with Samantha Bee didn’t receive a nomination.
Iconic late-night franchise “Saturday Night Live” received a nomination for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series and led NBC’s tally with 17 nominations, more than doubling last year’s eight nominations.
LOS ANGELES (AP) – The Emmy Awards nominations told us what is already evident – the power and reputation of streaming services Netflix and Amazon are on the rise, and broadcast networks and even longtime premium cable star HBO are paying the price.
Mike Judge’s razor-sharp tech satire Silicon Valley picked up six nominations at last year’s ceremony, but they were all for those behind the camera rather than those in front of it. HBO’s “Game of Thrones” led the way with 23 nominations.

It’s up for best limited series, and earned three acting nominations as well. Spy drama The Americans received nominations for five award categories which, according to critics and experts were overdue and the nominations includes best actor for Mathew Rhys, Keri Russell for best actress, outstanding drama series and the best writing award for their season’s final show.
