HBO Orders Comedy Anthology Series from Duplass Brothers
The prolific brothers will soon deliver another HBO comedy show in the form of Room 104 – an anthology series with a stunningly simple premise.

The series, which does not have a set episode order, is being produced in-house by HBO Originals and is being penned by Jay and Mark Duplass.
“Jay and Mark Duplass are two of the most inventive talents in TV today”, said HBO president of programming Casey Bloys. The pair is still under an overall deal with the premium cabler, and they serve as exec producers on HBO’s animated series “Animals”.
The Duplass brothers will run the show on Room 104.
The Duplass brothers are the showrunners and executive producers on Room 104, but it’s unconfirmed whether the two actors – Jay Duplass stars in Transparent, Mark Duplass starred in The League – in the show at any point.
We’ve seen a resurgence in the miniseries, and a love affair with “limited series”, but up until now those distinctions have been in reference to dramas. “That’s what ROOM 104 is after… finding some magic in the seemingly mundane”, added Jay and Mark Duplass.
The cancellation of “Togetherness” came as a surprise, even though the dramedy struggled to bring in a large audience.
There are literally dozens of us who miss HBO’s Duplass-fueled Togetherness, but don’t count the pair anywhere off the network just yet.
The Duplass brothers other credits in the entertainment industry include Cyrus, Jeff Who Lives at Home, and The Puffy Chair. Production for Room 104 begins later this year and will debut in 2017.
