Robertson proceeded to play the divisive card, talking about southern roots and saying “they don’t know how to talk to folks like us”, people who “hunt, fish, pray and actually work for a living”.
Ms. Trump noted that, “from a young age, my parents impressed the values upon me that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond, that you do what you say and keep your promise, that you treat people with respect”.
We’re not sure how slamming reporters from both sides of the aisle gets Trump votes, but hey. She was speaking in front of 35 million people last night. Trump hopes the day will cast him as the successful businessman who can create jobs for the whole country.
Despite speculation that the first day of the RNC could hold the same violent protests that have followed the Trump campaign across the nation, the protestors kept things peaceful.
Luntz said Ohio Governor John Kasich helped him write his father’s eulogy and brought him “back to life”.
The line-up of speakers and no-shows for the four-night convention was a visual representation of Mr Trump’s struggles to unify Republicans.
