‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’ Movie Reboot Finally Happening
If you grew up in the ’80s, chances are you were a He-Man and the Masters Of The Universe fan. While the film is still in development without a director, Sony has brought on Thor: Ragnarok scribe Christopher Yost to rewrite the screenplay.

Yost was part of Marvel’s writers room, having contributed to the first two Thor films, before being tapped to co-write Thor: Ragnarok with Craig Kyle. The screenwriter who cut his teeth on numerous animated superhero TV series will step up to Sony Pictures and Escape Artists’ Masters of the Universe reboot. The live-action movie is currently being developed, and new details confirm that He-Man’s archenemy Skeletor will be seen in the movie. Set on the fictional planet of Eternia (possible movie title: From Here to Eternia; sorry), the story centers on Prince Adam, a warrior who has the ability to transform into his heroic alter-ego, He-Man.

Several filmmakers have attempted to harness the fabulous secret powers of the He-Man universe, dating back to reports in 2007 that John Woo was working on an adaptation. Yost also has script credits for Stewart Hendler’s Max Steel, which is in post-production but doesn’t yet have a release date. The original cartoon series spawned a live action movie which starred Dolph Lundgren. The plot will also be showing He-Man’s attempts to take down Skeletor and his Castle Grayskull to unlock the mysteries that the fortress holds. But after living in fear of a live-action Masters of the Universe movie for the last decade and how Hollywood would inevitably destroy my favorite nerdy franchise, for the first time, I’m actually kind of excited and hopeful about it happening. This series was received well and took on a more serious tone with a Japanese anime style animation.
