Qin, who won bronze in his own synchronised diving event last week, nervously watched his girlfriend’s reaction in the short time in took her to say yes.
Quin asked her to marry him in front of the audience at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre on Sunday, reports Efe.
Kai is also a diver and won the bronze in the men’s three-meter synchronized springboard last week, according to the BBC.
As He posed for photos with gold medalist Shi Tingmao of China and Tania Cagnotto of Italy, Qin approached her, nervously biting his lip.
Happy tears as diver gets engaged.
“We’ve been dating for six years, but I didn’t expect him to propose today”, Zi said.
“I’ve forgotten most of what he said (during the proposal), but it’s largely what you can expect like promises”.
The victor of the He Zi’s diving event, Chinese teammate Shi Tingmao, told Reuters she was in on the proposal event.

“Both of them have gone through a lot”.
Enya, who used a gold ribbon to tie around Cerullo’s finger, said: “The Olympic Games can look like closure but, for me, it’s starting a new life with someone”.
