Health Care Heads To US Senate, Bitter Fight Expected

House Speaker Paul Ryan acknowledges the Senate is likely to make changes to the GOP health overhaul plan passed by the House. They did so without public hearings, without input from outside experts, without analysis by the Congressional Budget Office and without, finally, much compunction or consideration of the tens of millions of Americans it will harm.

The group, American Action Network, says its ad buy will focus on key elements of the American Health Care Act.

Outside the wealthiest Americans, there are few winners in this bill. Those people, like myself, will not only have to pay more because we’re young, but also because our healthy peers aren’t helping us out anymore by lowering prices.

“Our top concern is what this change could mean for older and sicker patients, including those with pre-existing conditions, such as cancer patients and those with chronic conditions”, Rick Pollack, president and CEO of the American Hospital Association, said in a statement Saturday, April 27, explaining why his group doesn’t support the bill.

Also, say goodbye to numerous government subsidies that help people obtain coverage on the insurance market. “Clearly AHCA fails in this regard and in fact would cause considerable harm to the very people who need access to affordable care the most”.

Chaffetz and the other three members of the Utah delegation – Republicans Rob Bishop, Chris Stewart and Mia Love – justified their votes by trying to sell the new bill as a vast, small government improvement to Obamacare.

“The regulation would be at the federal and the state level, so it’s hard to know the impact”.

That issue is cause for concern for a lot of people, but that concern is also premature. Is it fair for people to have coverage, or not, based on their geographic location in this country? MI is one of those states.

Haseley is referring to a portion of the bill that repeals taxes for the Affordable Care Act from high-income people, drug companies and insurers. Those congressmen/women fearless enough to actually face their constituents during the congressional breaks listened to heart-wrenching stories about how voters and their families relied on the ACA for their very lives.

With US Republicans relishing a win in the Obamacare repeal process, Democrats Friday girded for battle, warning that despite President Donald Trump’s optimism, the health bill’s fate is far from certain.

This is not a partisan issue. “It isn’t health care reform”. “But any bill that has been posted less than 24 hours – going to be debated three or four hours, not scored – needs to be viewed with suspicion”.

It’s “Trumpcare” now, and Republicans have to answer for it. If the Senate wants to actually write legislation that will benefit all Americans, more than just white dudes have to be in the room.
