Health insurance companies agree to pay $483K in fines

As a trade group, the organization is heavily involved in the insurance industry, especially when it comes to health coverage.

The penalty per adult is $695 and $347.50 for each child less than 18, or 2.5 percent of the household income.

America’s Health Insurance Plans is a national association that is comprised of some 1,300 companies.

According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), the great majority of consumers purchasing plans on the Marketplace are qualifying for financial assistance; this reduces their premium cost.

The final deadline to enroll in January 31st. Consumers can find more details about the various plans and their related premiums and deductibles, as well as any potential premium subsidies they may be eligible for, at www.healthcare.gov. Three out of four Oregonians who used HealthCare.gov a year ago received tax credits averaging $199 per month.
