Heartbreaking: 3-yr-old killed during her birthday party
The victim, Jayda Handy, was killed at about 2pm yesterday, August 6, 2016, while she ran to meet her grandfather near North 84th and West Marion streets in Milwaukee. She wanted her party today.

Jayda Handy saw her grandfather walking towards her from a distance, and got excited. The toddler ran into the street to hug her granddad, but was hit by an oncoming auto as she crossed the street.
Three-year-old Jayda Handy died Saturday afternoon after being transported to Children’s Hospital.
“She was just here preparing for her party all morning”, said Jaylen Handy.
Police say she ran through traffic near 84th and Marion, when she was struck by a vehicle.
“Every time I would walk into the house she would yell for me, and say ‘Daddy, where are you?'” Jaylen says. Everybody loved her… everybody is going to miss her.
The party continued afterwards, with family and friends saying that it is what the three-year-old would have wanted.
“Everybody was here for a happy gathering and it turned into this”, said Jaylen Handy. Always happy. Always happy.

“She was just a happy baby”. The police noted that no citations have been issued and that the whole ordeal was likely a tragic accident with the driver not at fault.
