“It looks like it’s going to be a hot and humid day”, he said.
On a hot and humid start to the workweek, the National Weather Service at State College has issued a heat advisory for much of the Harrisburg region.
Friday: Chance for showers and thunderstorms. A few storms could be strong to severe, with damaging winds as the primary threat. Showers and storms fade through the night as the cold front clear the region. Upon the passage of the warm front, the humidity will come up quite a bit, with dew points likely surging into the upper-60s and low-70s.
Although still hot, Tuesday and Wednesday’s heat may be slightly more manageable. Temperatures at Westover A.R.B.in Chicopee have reached the 90s each day starting last Thursday. The humidity stays uncomfortable too. Plenty of sunshine returns for Tuesday.
Wednesday will be sunny with a high near 95 and a low around 71. Expect scattered sun and clouds.
We’re already well into a long lasting heat wave for much of the state – and we don’t see a cool change coming anytime soon.
The combination of heat, humidity and the chance of thunderstorms means today is a First Warning Weather Day. This depends on the shower and thunderstorm timing. Saturday and Sunday temperatures fall into the 80s. A few showers and thunderstorms are still possible Saturday, with perhaps a stray thunderstorm on Sunday.
