Heat indexes in Chicago are projected to get as high as 110 on Friday, the Chicago Tribune reported. The eat index values will reach 100 degrees by late morning each day.
An excessive-heat watch is generally issued about 24 to 72 hours before conditions favorable to excessive heat occur in an area.
The weather service has declared an excessive heat warning starting today and continuing into Friday evening, and agency’s are providing ways to beat the heat as temperatures fall merely into the 70s overnight.
A heat wave is expected to begin in Central Minnesota on Wednesday, with dangerously hot and humid conditions continuing through Friday evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement about the heat, urging area residents to take precautions and stay indoors as much as possible.
