Heat for Friday, storms by Sunday

It lasted a record tying 10 days! At least we can enjoy temperatures that aren’t scorching. However, this July will not be the hottest on record, not even close. “The previous record low of 1.74” had stood since 1957.

Rainfall in July was quite variable.

An area of low pressure will be centered to the south of CT and there will still be a disturbance aloft.

Skies are mostly clear and winds are calm. We might see a few scattered thunderstorms later this evening but overall we should be dry.

The forecast focus will be on the high heat and humidity for the rest of this week.

Tomorrow night: Showers and storms should diminish by late evening as a shift to northwesterly breezes around 5-10 miles per hour offers us sweet relief in the form of drier and less-muggy air. Look forward to sunshine and falling humidity for tomorrow afternoon.

It’s already uncomfortable with temperatures around 80°. Temps today will be in the low 80s. While the threat for severe weather is not high, it can’t be ruled out. Afternoon temperatures will climb back to near seasonal averages statewide. Plus, temperatures will be on the rise again! Highs in the upper 80s and lows in the low 70s.

Another pretty decent day out there, slightly warmer than yesterday.

Friday: More sunshine and a bit humid. We are now forecasting highs in the middle 90s.

The Travelers Championship begins this week with tournament play getting underway on Thursday. Highs will still be very warm, but will be about three to five degrees cooler than what we are expecting on Friday.

Activity fades away quickly overnight. We’ll be tracking a cool front moving in from the north on Saturday that will eventually spark showers and storms. Heat indices will still reach the low 100 to 106 degree range each afternoon. The front will drop to near Hwy.

Showers and storms return today
