Heat’s Chris Bosh to miss NBA All-Star Game

Bosh has expressed eagerness in recent weeks to play in this year’s game because it is being played in Toronto.

Bosh is the only player this season to start every game so far this season for Miami. The Heat last played on Tuesday, and the word is just now coming out. “But I will also use this weekend to try to heal and focus on the second half of the HEAT season”.

Bosh did not mention the injury in that media day availability, nor in an subsequent brief interview with The Associated Press. He worked out Wednesday night in Miami in preparation for the 3-point contest, flew to Toronto on Thursday and was in the audience at the NBA All-Star Technology Summit on Friday morning before joining the other East All-Star selections for interview sessions with reporters. So right now, he’s perfectly content looking ahead, not back at the diagnosis that came just days after last year’s All-Star weekend ended.

It is unlikely Bosh would plan to keep being part of the weekend if this situation were more serious than a typical injury.

However, he will now be replaced by Atlanta Hawks forward Al Horford.

It was originally reported that he would miss the festivities due to an undisclosed injury.

While Bosh’s return to Toronto for the All-Star Game would have been a fun storyline to follow, Horford is a worthy replacement who could have been on the initial roster. The Hawks center has had decent numbers this year with 15.3 points and 6.9 rebounds, and it appears that he may be on the trade block.

The All-Star appearance would have been the 11th of Bosh’s career.
