High temperatures and humidex values expected Tuesday and Wednesday have prompted Environment Canada to issue a heat warning for London, Strathroy, Parkhill, Komoka and both Eastern and Western Middlesex Counties.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the low 30sC, putting humidex values around 40-42 C.

Environment Canada encouraged people to drink plenty of fluids, especially water, in order to prevent dehydration.

Older adults and young children, as well as people suffering from chronic illness and those without access to air conditioning, are at greater risk of developing heat-related illness. There may be a few areas where the high temperatures and humidex will continue into Thursday.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the city and the GTA ahead of Tuesday’s scorching temperatures.

You are also reminded to frequently visit neighbours, friends and older family members, especially those who are chronically ill, to make sure that they are cool and hydrated.

Residents should also call or visit friends or neighbours who may be at risk and never leave people or pets in your care unattended in a vehicle.
